Food costs up by 7%? I'd say it's more than that here. I`ve also heard about this nonsense that some veggies never even reach the supermarkets as they are not up to the required standards. That`s a propper waste of food resources, if you ask me. There should be a law to prevent this type of rejection by the supermarkets. Let`s hope we can grow our own over this coming year. By the look of the weather and soil conditions at this moment I don`t hold much hope for an early start. We might also be battling with the dreaded slugs again this year due to the sodden soils. Oh, what I would give to have the luxury of a polytunnel or good sized greenhouse!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09114653674812242486noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7782949211192528476.post-5318599347416889822013-01-13T09:23:41.053-08:002013-01-13T09:23:41.053-08:00Hi Trudie, like you, we were brought up to eat hom...Hi Trudie, like you, we were brought up to eat home grown produce, so odd shaped fruit and veg has always been perfectly natural to us. I think it's odd that people would only eat "perfect" specimens. I blame it on the supermarkets for not giving people the chance to buy it in the first place.<br />We get a veg box with muddy odd shaped veg and occasionally, spotty apples and "That's life" saucy roots :-DKathhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04003521059890699861noreply@blogger.com
